Baberan’s automatic line for panel gluing

June 2, 2008 – 5:27 am

Using hotmelt adhesive for honeycomb gluing, instead of the PVAc or UF glues, that are normally used to do this application, as well as the combination of high speed, precision, simplicity and user-friendly adjustment typical f Barberan machinery, are some of the key features f this line. Thanks to the use of hotmelt glues, the deformations caused by long pressing times and the accumulation of moisture inside the doors, are eliminated n this process. The operation of the line is also simple, as the part are referenced mechanically and only one adjustment is necessary to change the width or he length of the work piece. The line has a preparation table for the honeycomb frame (could be a door, a furniture component or a panel). Once the operator has the piece prepared with the honeycomb, he or she presses a button s that the piece can enter line. This piece will be glue n the upper side and is stopped at the next table to wait for the upper skin.
When the piece to be glued enters the gluing line, the upper skin is fed in parallel and a suction cup system brings it upon the glued piece. Once the skin lays upon the glued piece, it passes to the lower glue spreader, where glue is applied at the lower side only. When the upper skin is glued at the lower side, the lower skin is fed in parallel and sidewards by conveyor belts. Some arms with lateral pincers take the piece with the uniform glued skin and it will be placed upon the lower skin. One the sandwich has been completed, it goes to the short-cycle press where the necessary pressure for the correct bonding take place. This line is able to produce four pieces per minute thanks to the application of glue at both sides of the piece in two consecutive stations. This permits the overlapping of the necessary times t put the upper and the lower skins.

Venture 10 and Venture 11 are high-performance processing centres fitted with a complete set of equipment for individual furniture, interior fittings and internal door production. They can also be used for large workpieces with dimension of up to 6,175 mm in length, 2,075 mm in width and 300 mm in height. In conjunction with a high-performance trimming spindle (18.5 KW output and maximum 24,000 rpm), the Venture series of machine are capable of covering every conceivable requirement. The Venture 12 (Fig 1) is equipped as standard with features required for staircase and window construction. Alongside the high-speed 30-slot chain changer, the woodDtairs and woodWindows design and data preparation software packages are available for staircase and window manufacture on the processing centre. A key highlight of these processing centres is their capacity for upgrading with the 5-axis function using the new, patented FLEX5 5-axis unit (Fig 2). This unit is exchanged into the main spindle from the tool adapter in the same way as a tool and allows fully automatic execution of operations such as trimming or shift cuts at any optional angle. The gantry series machines B600 and B700 are also available for higher output.
These machines are fitted with two processing tables capable of independent operation. In conjunction with up to four processing units, which can also be used individually, different workpieces can be processed simultaneously. The B600 series (Fig 3) provides a low-cost entry into gantry technology, and is fitted with an innovative new safety concept with an extremely small space requirement. All models can also be supplied with an edgebanding unit, which is also retrofittable. The woodWOP-Wizard software was developed to enale simple, high-speed deployment of edgebanding units. This software contains the whole range of technological data for edgebanding (glue temperature, feed rates etc), allowing programs to be generated rapidly by a simple press of the button. The modular equipment range on offer for Homag stationary technology also permits customize machine equipment outfits to address wide0ranging customer materials and products. This also includes the machine environment such as workpiece handling automation and/or upgrading to create a processing centre. One of the special features on offer is linear feeder TBP 370 operated by the power control system PC85 (Fig 4). All the operator need to do is access the processing programs, without any need for separate feeder programming. Besides being lower in price than robots, this production cell is also extremely simple and convenient to operate.

Frameless Lightweight Boards for Furniture Industry

May 19, 2008 – 10:23 am

Siempelkamp Handling System, a division of Siempelkamp Group, has developed a new manufacturing technology for the production of frameless lightweight boards, which offers numerous advantages, such as significant reduction of weight and raw materials use as well stability. The new technology uses manufacturing know-how from the production of panel-type wood-based materials and sandwich panels.
The key point of the new frameless lightweight board is the internal bond between the light core layer and he surface layers. Due to this bond achieved by using special glue and glue application, the large-sized panels show the properties of normal wood-based panels. Thanks to the special production technique, the board weight is considerably reduced. These lightweight boards are ideally suited for applications in the furniture industry and interior construction. Their reduced material usage minimizes production costs without compromising stability achieved by employing this composite material. SHS supplies complete plant components for the production of frameless lightweight boards that are based on the company’s standard programme. For instance, the boards are calibrated by means of a double-belt line that was developed by the PU technology department.
Special features of frameless lightweight panel :
- Weight reduction of up to 60 per cent
- Internal strength comparable to solid panels
-  Proven plant technology
- most reliable glue application technology
- compliance with thickness tolerances of furniture industry
- Numerous combination possibilities of surface and core materials
- Fully-automated production plants of up to 8 million square meters per annum with integrated cut-to-size technology
- Panel width of up to 2,500 mm (8 feet) with variable panel length

13. Europe’s panel industry going strong / home and garden
Wood based panel are alive and well throughout Europe, and one of the “adhesives” that gives this industrial sector its strength, resiliency and coherence is he European Panel Federation (EPF), which dispatched one of its officers, Managing Board Member Geoff Rhodes, to address at the international Wood Composites Symposium.
Mr. Rhodes, a veteran in the composites industry, is Marketing & Sales Director for Weyerhaeuser Products Ltd based in the United Kingdom. His theme at Seattle was the panel industry’s current outlook and future trends. A selection of the key points began with the news that Estonia, Lithuania and Poland have recently joined the EPF, bringing its total member nation to 23. Besides panel mills, there are around 50 associate members (mainly suppliers), along with some 40 collaborating technology institutes. EPF members last year turn out over 33 million cubic meters of particleboard, 13 million cubic meters of MDF and 3 million cubic meters of OSB. Where does the total output worth US$2.12 billion go? Furniture is number one and absorbs 54 per cent of he output, followed by construction (17 percent), millwork, etc (12 percent), panels (9 percent) and packaging/others (8 percent). Europe-wide (Russia excluded), particleboard was the 2005 king of the hill with 65 percent of wood based panels output, followed by MDF (19 percent), SB (6 percent), plywood (6 percent) and hardboard/soft board (4 percent).

No easy road for OSB
MDF’s market share has been growing gradually in recent years but has stabilized at 20 percent of the total share. OSB grew rapidly in pas decades but he current rate has dropped. Plywood is striving to compete with OSB but now sees a rough patch, with output stagnating due to increased import from other regions, while OSB faces tough competition from these imports.

Particleboard: Germany reigns supreme
The year 2005 was one of the best on record for particleboard output. Germany was the continent’s biggest producer with 9.5 million cubic meters, far ahead of France, Spain and Italy. Particleboard demand has weakened in Europe somewhat. Eastern Europe is increasing market share gradually, “an important aspect to the European particleboard scenario”.

MDF: A great hit
Over the past decade, MDF capacity grew vigorously, exceeding 14 million cubic metres a year. The driving force has been laminate flooring’s giant surge in demand. Capacity utilization for MDF ran at 91 percent last year and should hit 94 percent in 2006.

OSB: New kid on the block
Newer than particleboard and MDF, OSB is a steady climber and has exceeded the 3 million-cubic metre capacity notch. Production rises year after year, averaging 14 percent. Exports are healthy, too, with about 25 percent going outside Europe, a better relative performance than the other main Euro-panels.

Are the worries? Yes
Production costs, which rose sharply last year due to soaring oil process effect on transport, energy and resin, is concern. Wood prices were up, too, but with wide variance by country. “The availability of wood as a raw material for the panel production worries the industry to an increasing extent,” he said. “This is due to the increased support from the authorities to the burning of wood for the production of so-called ‘green energy’. Consequently, wood costs are estimated to be set for a long-term increase. Since EPF doesn’t want to fight windmills against this ‘renewable energy wave’, we have decided to establish an action programme with the aim to build a positive information wave about wood products to counterbalance it.”

Businessmen need the concrete action of the government

May 13, 2008 – 6:18 pm

Businessmen hope government does something immediately to concrete action, in order that rupiah value is not depressed continuously. However, this case happens opposite, the government still hesitates to take wisely. It is impossible for industry which use import raw material will be bankrupt one by one. In trade, value of rupiah isn’t stabile to make market difficult to trust Indonesia again. Degradation of rupiah that progressive sharp, fast or slow will make industry fall, such as sale of yarn. In the month, PT. Panasia Indosyntec sell count 4000 ton. The price of sale 1,65 USD per kg. Suddenly, value of exchange loses from 10.400 rupees to 10.900 rupiah per USD. The difference of value represent loses till 3,3 billion per month. Losing finance isn’t including calculate from the sale of textile. Because, raw material produce yarn and textile must be bought by USD. On other hand, the sale result of transaction in the form of dollar must be exchanged become rupees for payment of worker. Value rupee continues to float; particularly it makes businessmen have high risk. Frankly the government must take a certain action.
Businessmen expire twice hit, that is increase price raw material is caused by increase price oil. Oil fuel is principal raw material of plastics industrial product, and the other hand is value exchange loss. This condition make raw material industry must responsible to increase cost equal to 15 %.  One of way to strengthen rupees exchange value is to make rupees money trusted. In Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia, currency is used some transaction like loading and unloading fare. In Indonesia most export - import transaction use dollar. The government see to hesitance apply rupees exchange value. As transaction in PT. Pelindo, whereas that is service firm to the government own. Therefore, government need to change payment curs of container handling charge (CHC = container fee handling) collected by PT.Pelindo of dollar to rupees. Payment of CHC can be changed by government because its decision is determined by communication minister. So that, minister communication has power to change for the sake of easily to export import businessmen.

BEAUTY AND HEALTH

May 5, 2008 – 10:11 am

Leaving healthy with consume an organic food. In this time, organic food is warm to be discussed. That it can make health to our body and it can avoid us from disease. It isn’t strange in the middle crowd of living style societies, especially in metropolis the organic food become alternative food more and it prefers. The excellent of organic food is in production process and packaging process. Organic food such as, fruits, vegetables, or meat have little or even it doesn’t use chemical like pesticide. Different from conventional food (non organic) that is much helped by chemical because tat process uses modern technology such as pesticide and fertilize brand. Kinds of research said, the chemical that enters in the body pass by food in the long time will heap and have potential to get health disturbance. Therefore, although the price of food organic is expensive, many people are hunting it.
The other factor, many people that consume organic food is awareness of environment. Because it doesn’t use pesticide and brand fertilizer, the environment is more protected and land will be more fertilize due to it doesn’t contaminate chemical. Many benefits are gotten by consuming organic food. Such as organic food considered can neutralize poison in the body effect of pollution. Because it to ability to clean blood to throw away poison which heap in cell and help to regenerate new cell. Vitamin that organic food higher compared by common fruit. Example tomato, although the form smaller, but contents vitamin C and E higher than common potato up to 40%. So, that isn’t strange if many people said, the body will be fresh after they consume organic food. It is possible, because organic food contents high nutrient. It can help the growth of process and the body cure becomes better.

THE EVOLUTION OF COMPUTER

April 29, 2008 – 8:41 am

In the short time approximately twenty-five years, computer expire incredible change. It mean about capabilities and sizes. The first computer was developed around 1945. In this time, the form of computer is very large. So, they need special air conditional room. And it doesn’t need a long time around 1960 the computer of second edition was discovered. They can put in the big desk, because it sizes is smaller than before. This phenomena make change societies mind, previous they think pessimist about computer. But from this occurrence, pattern of think societies changes. In the same decade, a third generation of computer is created. It is smaller and faster. In 1971, first microprocessor is developed by bill gate. He knows opportunity about necessary of human being to computer. So, he struggles furiously for the sake of development of computer. Large of microprocessor is less than hand grasp in size so that it make computer smaller. On other hand, not only smaller size but it speeds faster too. This effect can make computer faster when it is loading, so it can reduce much time. Seeing the development of computer is easier used and smaller than before.
Many societies want to try ability computer for their help on business. Surely, many people feel satisfy with computer. Company of computer get request more from societies so that they want computer to be made in order can support more or all theirs necessary. Just, we have to know that computer in last time still difficult to be operated. Seeing societies respond that it can help spirit a Company of Computer to improve their computer system. This effect can make computer faster when loading, so it can reduce much time. But it also makes many people, especially that they occupy about technology follow to imitate this product. Now, we can find the product of computer very easily and that consists of a lot of kind of various. Even, it isn’t only desk computer we can find, but it brings the development of world to the sophisticate of technology like hand computer (laptop). And likely, era human being now can’t be separated from this technology

How to recognize English all

April 15, 2008 – 11:15 am

All from us surely ever learn English as far as this time. We have to learn English during get to study in school. But a question is what we can speak well, especially like a foreign people. Surely the answer is not, why whereas we have to learn English for long time since junior school till senior school, even in college although just for a moment. I think this problem coming from false our method to learn. Because in last time desire of us can speak English may low. May be it’s happen because we don’t need English very much, we just learn English in order to get value. But now, we have more purpose, we have so far oriented which must is fulfilled and it is depend on private.
We can measure all lesson during this time by kinds of way, such as: reading books or news English, watching television or movie without text, and the exclusive method is we can use teleconference to build our conversation. With this method we can measure our English by our selves. These ways depend on private also, until where he is satisfied. If we feel less/poor for our English should be upgraded with method above or the other. If we think progress, actually our English is very poor from the real English, but with high spirit, I am sure we can do that, at least we could try to unite all lesson what we have. And the last problem how to optimalize our English is we should imitate/duplicate as foreign language. But for the first it’s ok for beginner to learn English like Indonesian style, after fluent in conversation later we will effort change our style to real English language.

The Importantce of English in Indonesia

April 7, 2008 – 11:13 am

Seeing the growth of world in this time, it can’t be separated from English language. Almost angle of life uses English language. We can’t imagine our societies do not understand English. May be, we will more and more left behind from other countries. Because whole of information especially which has relation to scientist, business, and politics use English language. One of the way to give them motivation to be willing to learn English is to give them scholarship as foreign country does.  One of cause of the difficulty to learn English is from environment. The environment does not support to change to go forward. May be, we see it strange if we speak English. One of way to avoid this problem is we should live in the suitable place. The place will give us chance to change ours living style, in this case it will expire language change. To visit to overseas gives us guarantee can speak English. But this way is very difficult for many people in Indonesia, because many people in our country live under poorness. The other way we enable to move in the suitable place normally takes a course. Although it doesn’t an effective way to get great result if we don’t know about their culture. Although we can go abroad, we can learn about their culture from books, watches television, and many a compact disk, which explained about their countries.
I think that every one can learn English language although they don’t have background in English study, as what I told above that English language is more and more important for angle of life, more than anything else if we are business man. We can go forward to international if we can understand a lot of information about the running of business. On other hand a company growth must follow improvement about the way of job. Thus, a lot of information what we need coming from foreign. It’s only that we can’t equalize our skill with background of education in english study. But it is ok, because we need english language only for communication, it isn’t for researcher.

Management for our successful

April 1, 2008 – 11:12 am

Firstly I agree that management can help us to reach success, but this not absolute because our future depends on a lot of factor. We may make management to plan ours future. Planning can be scheduled by sequence one more important to the other. It’s true if we want success to our live should we make management. But I don’t think like that, surely that statement is true but not one of thing. We must to know that effort we do don’t only influenced by management, but there are other factor can influence such as: area/surroundings, intelligent quotation, and biggest is determined is destiny/fate. Although we effort hard if the God is not give us blessing and mercies surely we fail. Especially in our country consist of many Moslem. So according to me management have 50% successfulness to our live and as half as the other. But one more thing what we must remember, that the God won’t change our live if we not try to change by ourselves.
