Homag CNC Technology-Solution for every application
May 26, 2008 – 3:49 amHomag’s range of products this year has been extended to include the Venture series extension arm machine as an entry-level solution for cabinet shops and joineries in the form of complete packages. Venture 10 and Venture 11 are high-performance processing centres fitted with a complete set of equipment for individual furniture, interior fittings and internal door production. They can also be used for large workpieces with dimension of up to 6,175 mm in length, 2,075 mm in width and 300 mm in height. In conjunction with a high-performance trimming spindle (18.5 KW output and maximum 24,000 rpm), the Venture series of machine are capable of covering every conceivable requirement. The Venture 12 (Fig 1) is equipped as standard with features required for staircase and window construction. Alongside the high-speed 30-slot chain changer, the woodDtairs and woodWindows design and data preparation software packages are available for staircase and window manufacture on the processing centre. A key highlight of these processing centres is their capacity for upgrading with the 5-axis function using the new, patented FLEX5 5-axis unit (Fig 2). This unit is exchanged into the main spindle from the tool adapter in the same way as a tool and allows fully automatic execution of operations such as trimming or shift cuts at any optional angle. The gantry series machines B600 and B700 are also available for higher output.
These machines are fitted with two processing tables capable of independent operation. In conjunction with up to four processing units, which can also be used individually, different workpieces can be processed simultaneously. The B600 series (Fig 3) provides a low-cost entry into gantry technology, and is fitted with an innovative new safety concept with an extremely small space requirement. All models can also be supplied with an edgebanding unit, which is also retrofittable. The woodWOP-Wizard software was developed to enale simple, high-speed deployment of edgebanding units. This software contains the whole range of technological data for edgebanding (glue temperature, feed rates etc), allowing programs to be generated rapidly by a simple press of the button. The modular equipment range on offer for Homag stationary technology also permits customize machine equipment outfits to address wide0ranging customer materials and products. This also includes the machine environment such as workpiece handling automation and/or upgrading to create a processing centre. One of the special features on offer is linear feeder TBP 370 operated by the power control system PC85 (Fig 4). All the operator need to do is access the processing programs, without any need for separate feeder programming. Besides being lower in price than robots, this production cell is also extremely simple and convenient to operate.
